🐾 Cass Lake-Bena Spring Sports Participation Update 🐾
Hello Panther Families,
We want to provide some clarification on middle school participation in spring sports at Cass Lake-Bena. Due to MSHSL requirements and participation guidelines, 6th grade participation can be limited in certain activities.
Sports NOT allowing 6th grade participation: 🏃 Track and Field ⛳ Golf
We understand this may be disappointing for some students who were hoping to participate this spring. Please know we are continuing to look for opportunities to expand participation. Our golf coaches are currently working on ideas for future youth programming, and we will share more information with the community when it becomes available.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support of Panther Athletics.

🍎🐾 Cass Lake-Bena Teacher of the Year Nominations Are Open! 🐾🍎
Cass Lake-Bena Schools are fortunate to have so many dedicated and caring teachers and counselors who work hard every day to support our students and community.
Now is your chance to recognize one of them.
Take a moment to nominate a teacher or counselor who makes a difference in the lives of students. Whether you are a student, parent, staff member, or community member, your voice matters. It means a great deal for educators to know their work is appreciated and supported by the people around them.
Let’s celebrate the individuals who help make Cass Lake-Bena a special place to learn and grow.

Graphic Novels is a new class at the high school this year. Students have been busy reading familiar texts adapted to the graphic novel format, as well as many thought-provoking, relatable, contemporary texts. This trimester's class took on a group challenge to read 6,000 pages in a two-week period (with assignments sprinkled in here and there). This meant each student had to read 500 pages to help the group reach the goal. In the end, the group recorded 10,768 pages! Every student has read several books over the course of the class and taken a lot away from their reading. Way to go, Panthers!

🏀🐾 Panthers Leave It All on the Floor 🐾🏀
The Cass Lake-Bena Panthers battled until the final buzzer tonight in a tightly contested game against Pine River-Backus. The final score was 61–59, but the fight, effort, and heart shown by our Panthers told a bigger story.
This team competed the entire way. Every possession mattered. Every player stepped up. Games like tonight are tough, but they are also the moments that build programs, character, and future success.
The Panthers proved they belong. They proved they can compete with anyone. And most importantly, they showed what it means to represent Cass Lake-Bena with pride.
To our seniors, thank you for the leadership you brought to this program. To the underclassmen, the message is clear. Keep working. Keep building. The future of Panther basketball is strong.
Panther Nation, thank you for the support all season long. The journey continues.

The Personal Writing classes from the high school have partnered with kindergarteners and first graders this school year to read together. The first time the high schoolers visited, the first graders read to them. On the second visit, the big kids returned with books they had created to read to their little friends. The books were about cultural topics, animal friends, and everything in between. It was a great experience and fun was had by all!
