The two parties met for the 5th time on July 24, 2025.  An agreement was reached regarding language that allows teachers qualified payments on their student loans to count towards their match amounts (up to $3,000) for 403B contributions.  Teachers will need to declare their intent to the district by September 18 and must, by June 1 of each year, submit an attestation of qualified student loan payments.  Upon receipt of the attestation document, the district will then invest the district’s share of the 403B match to the teacher’s account.  This agreement will allow teachers to both pay back their student loans and invest in supplemental retirement accounts.

Salary proposals were exchanged.  The most recent proposal from CLEA included increasing the Curriculum Rate of Pay (for work done outside the contracted days/hours that is not student contact/supervision work) from $35/hour to $40/hour.  The proposal also asked the district to pay 50% of the premium paid for Family and Single +1 health insurance -- the district currently provides a lump sum towards those policies (and fully pays for the cost of a single/employee plan).  The final component of the proposal was to increase the cells in the salary schedule by 2.5% year one and 2.5% year two, and to reduce the number of student contact days from 172 to 171, thus reducing the overall days worked for teachers from 181 to 180.  The district will provide a counter offer at the next meeting.

Items tabled include the districts proposals to withhold salary increases for teachers placed on a personal improvement plan until the plan has been fulfilled and to change the language around approval of personal leave to account for total absences in a building, rather than only personal leave.  Also tabled is a CLEA proposal to limit teacher preparation times to one block of time rather than allowing for flexibility of two blocks of time as is current language and to designate on the master schedule preparation times for non-classroom staff (social workers, counselors, school nurse staff.).  These staff are to be provided a prep time; at the current time, there is flexibility in when that happens, based on the needs of students.

The next negotiations session is scheduled for August 14 at 4:00 pm in high school room 435.
